The data package lets your app connect with your scooter. The NGT and M+ have an on-board computer that constantly communicates with the cloud. This gives you a real-time access to your scooter's data on your smart phone.
The app shows you information about recent rides, GPS, and even anti-theft alerts. We also provide regular Over The Air Updates (OTA) that gets you the most updated software for your scooter. Getting the data package after it expires means you'll have continuous support and updates on the app. Should you choose not to purchase it, you can still use the scooter as normal. But you won't receive updates and the app won't be connected to the scooter anymore.
Every scooter is delivered with two sets of keys. If you lost both of these keys, you can get in touch with your local NIU Dealer. The only solution is to change the key slots on the scooter. NIU cannot provide new copies of the keys. If you have any other questions, you can send an email to [email protected].

The NIU batteries have been specially designed for our NIU scooters. Using a different battery could cause damage to your NIU scooter. Every model has its own battery. It is therefore also not possible to use a NIU battery in the wrong NIU model.
This is normal as the charger is under a lot of stress while charging. If you feel that there might be a problem with the charger, please visit your local dealer for a check-up.
All our batteries have a LED indicator showing the charging progress. If you are charging the batteries inside the scooter, you can see the battery percentage and remaining time on the dashboard when turning the scooter on. Press the red button and all the lights will shine up to let you know the battery status. If it's plugged into the wall charging, turn the scooter on and you'll see the battery status on the dashboard.
Our batteries are designed together with Panasonic.
Hey, make sure your battery is charged and well connected to your NIU. If this is the case and your NIU doesn't work please go to your local dealer.
All our Panasonic lithium-ion battery packs are featured with an aluminium alloy casing and a convenient handle. The weight depends on the model.
M series: 8.3 kg
N series: 10 kg
U series: 5.2 kg
NGT series: 11 kg
M+ series: 11 kg
Hey, please contact your dealer for more information about your battery.
Yes, you can purchase additional batteries from your dealer. You can inform with them for prices and availability.
We recommend keeping the level of the battery above 20%. Avoid using the battery in extreme temperatures. The battery's performance is optimized between -10°C and 45°C. Using the battery in temperatures outside of this range, may lead to long-term damage. When not using the scooter for a longer period of time, you should disconnect the battery from the scooter and keep it in a cool and dry place. We recommend keeping the battery level at around 50%. Do not cover the battery with anything and keep it away from all kinds of heat sources to avoid damage.
For more information, click here.
You can charge your scooter in a normal external outlet. You can also take the battery out and charge it in a normal power outlet.
No, the scooters can only be charged at charging stations that offer normal power outlets. A car charging system won't work on them.
The NQi GT batteries have a dual battery discharge system which ensures you maximize your battery usage. In case one battery has more charge than the other, the scooter will draw more power from the one with the higher power level. The batteries should have less than 15% difference for you to be able to drive the Sport mode and reach the 70 km/h speed.
The charging time depends on the NIU model you have.
M series: 6 hours
N series: 6 hours
U series: 4 hours
M+ series: 9 hours
NGT series: 4 hours
You can buy a new charger in your local dealer's shop. Find your local dealer here: https://www.niu.com/en/niu-store-finder/
After 600-800 charging cycles, the battery still has 80% of its capacity left. In total, the battery can last for about 5 years. This can vary depending on the general care and use of the battery.
The fast charger is available for the NQi GT and NQi Pro models. All other models do not support the fast charger.
Yes, you can still drive your scooter with only one battery while charging the other. The highest driving mode won't be available to use though if only 1 battery is connected.
Battery Health Score and Level of Battery
Battery level at 15% or more (+1)
Charging your battery when its level is higher than 15% is a good habit to adopt. You can even gain +1 at the Battery Health Score if you do it 10 times in a row.
Battery level at 40% or more (+1)
Charging your battery often is the best habit you should have! This is also the best way to improve your Battery Health Score. It will gain 1 point if you are recharging 5 times in a row, a battery with a level higher than 40%!
Examples of good charging habits
If you have very good charging habits, your Health Score is impacted this way depending on charging sequences:
1 : -0.1
2 : -0.1
3 : -0.1
4 : -0.1
5 : -0.1 + 1 = +0.9
6: -0.1
7 : -0.1
8 : -0.1
9 : -0.1
10 : -0.1 + 1 = +0.9
Therefore, assuming your score was 99.8 when you bought your NIU electric scooter, after 10 Battery Cycles you did not lose any points and rather gain 1.8! Your Battery Health Score is now 100.
If your scooter battery gets down to 0% The BMS which is the battery management system will go into the sleep state which means the normal wall charger that you would use will no longer properly charge the battery.
Solution
You could potentially leave it plugged in for 8,10,12 hours and when you pop the thing off of there the battery is still showing that it's dead because you have taken the battery down so far that it's beyond its ability to charge back up.
When the indicator Button is pressed, the Indicator will light up to show the percentage of the battery. The indicator has 5 sections. Each presents 20% of the battery level.
•If the battery leveI is less than 20%, the Indicator will flash 3 times.
•When charging, the indicator will flash to show the charging progress. They wiII stop flashing when the battery is fully charged.
•If all 5 sections flash, it means the battery has fault. Please contact your dealer for consultation.
• The battery should be used at temperatures of 10 °C to 45°C.
• Do not expose to water, beverages, or corrosive liquids.
• Keep away from the heat source, open fire, inflammable and explosive gases, and liquids.
• Please keep metal parts away from the battery compartment
You can easily change the alarm sensitivity on your scooter with your key. Long press the middle red button on your key until you hear your scooter beep. Don't let go of the red button; you will hear more beeps. The faster the beeps, the more sensitive the alarm is set. Let go of the red button when you reached the sensitivity you want.
The scooter alarm takes its energy from the main battery. When the battery is disconnected, the alarm cannot be turned on.
After disconnecting the battery, the GSM and GPS data will still be powered through the ECU battery. So you can still track your scooter even when the main battery has been disconnected. A fully charged ECU battery can last for a few days.
